Eucharist / Holy Communion

Eucharist / Holy Communion

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion usually begins in the 2nd grade after their First Reconciliation has been celebrated. First Holy Communion Preparation usually includes a Family Gathering and a meeting to discuss the celebration day. The Diocese of Wilmington requires that a student who is planning to receive First Holy Communion must be enrolled in at least one year of formal religious education immediately prior to preparing for Eucharist and continue to be enrolled during the year of preparation. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is traditionally celebrated on the first Saturday in May.
